19th July 2013 Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: 10-21kts Surf / Sea State: flat to bumpy Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: sunny and warm Max Speed: 26.63 kts (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 21.6 Nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Another 5 star evening surfers, wind kicked in 5.10pm started planing nicely on 8.5/146L playing near the kite zone, reasonable sea with Alistair. Had a good hour then went way over powered, clocking 24.7 kts. Had to land near the kite zone to crank everything down to get back to the dip on a nightmare broad reach. Everyone changed down except Squiz. Gusts were now 20 + kts so rigged 120 excite ride pro/7.2 Hellcat which was spot on and had a great evening clocking 26.63 kts. Played the swell near the kite zone most of the evening out pacing a couple of kiters on the run out to the river. They had a good view of my a*se The North shox system was in full damp mode, hitting chop flat out on the way to the river mouth, bottoming out a couple of times causing instant spin out – I now know its limits! On the way back me and a kiter got tangled up in 2 different fishing lines. I cant believe fishermen choose to fish right in the kite zone! Had to slash his line on my fin to detangle which took 5 mins + plus loads of 2 finger salutes to the pain in the a*ses. Top evening with covering 21.64nm with Squiz, Lord Swain, Nick C, etc and several kiters, wind died about 7.45 ish. More of the same tomorrow. The wind now seem to kick in late afternoon till about 7.30pm each evening. Hope to get my Fanatic freewave 115 on the water this w/end :) |
